While we are best known for No-Blade LASIK earlier this year we began offering Minimally invasive facial enhancements. The term minimally invasive facial enhancements is a term that describes the process of returning a youthful and vibrant appearance to one's face without the risk, rehabilitation and expense of a conventional facelift. Minimally invasive facial enhancements describes a procedure or combination of in office treatments that lead to a rapid return to typical daily activities.
Our practice delivers this treatment by combining treatments to address each patient's individual facial needs. Dynamic facial lines - so called scowl or "eleven" lines seen between the eyebrows. By therapeutically reducing the activity of the muscles that "depress" the facial features, one is able to achieve a smoother, younger looking facial contour. This process was introduced by an Ophthalmologist, Alistair Carruthers, M.D., in the 1990's.
The other avenue one may pursue to regain the vitality of one's face is to treat the other form of "age lines" on the face, called the static lines. Static lines are always present - even in the setting of decreased muscle contraction. The most commonly treated static lines are the nasolabial folds (NLF), the crease of facial skin that runs from the side of the nose, along the cheek, ending at the corner of the mouth. The NLF's become more prominent as time and uv light cause a degradation of the natural facial elasticity. This area is well-treated through the use of a natural implant, called hyaluronic acid (HA) filler (don't panic, hyaluronic acid is a component found in our own cells.) The HA is gently applied just under the surface of the skin to soften wrinkles and even some types of scars.
Each treatment is available at our offices, and you spend from 45-55 minutes (depending upon how much of a "makeover" one desires. The effects of the treatments are noticeable within a few minutes to days - again based upon the treatment strategy you desire.
